About
the Artist
Lynn Lawson-Pajunen
"My paintings are mostly modern
and contemporary, abstract in form, with some representational
in the mix to reflect my impressions of the world.
I use an experimental approach, a style I call "Conceptual
Expressionism," to bring the essential qualities
of spirituality and intensity and to my paintings.
I love to portray the essence of a subject,
bringing attention to the uniqueness of the world
we live in. By observing the intricacies - shapes,
colors, textures and the multitude of designs out
there, I am inspired to try to capture the qualities
of an image or concept, and thereby reflecting an
idea rather than reproducing an image. My subject
matter is diverse and conceptual; it often includes
themes that develop into a series.
Abstract art does not strive to create
accurate representations of any forms or objects;
rather it requires that you develop a painting mostly
from your imagination. To attain this I use an open-ended
painting process, I build rich layers of color and
texture, creating imaginary backgrounds that combine
my concepts of realism with the abstract. This duality
keeps painting challenging and fun! I love the endless
possibilities of these intuitive starts, and by letting
my imagination run freely, a concept evolves. Then
using mixed media I interpret this concept to the
working surface. For me this intuitive method of creating
art from the imagination is exciting and enormously
fulfilling."
